First things first. The word spa itself creates an image of a specific situation, but where does this word come from?
Most possibly, the word comes from the Belgian city of Spa on the outskirts of Liège (Spa, province de Liège), a small town of only 10,000 inhabitants which, although was mostly known for its thermal baths since the Roman times, gained European recognition in the 18th century when it was established as a resort of the high society and the spa town of European aristocrats.
So how can we transform our bathroom into a mini spa?
• Let’s start with the towels… fluffy white towels with a scent of an essential oil of your choice and optionally heated for 30” in a microwave oven.
• Then you choose scented candles that suit your preferences, we recommend relaxing scents such as ylang-ylang and lavender.
• After that you choose a loofah that suits your preferences (you can find it here) and massage your body to enhance blood circulation.
• If you have a bathtub, you can enjoy the ticklish massage of a playful bath bomb (find it here)
• One of the main reasons that spas offer a complete relaxation is because they require you to pause from the use of any electronic device. So, if you decide to take a bubble bath at home, leave your mobile device and smartwatch in the next room so that you can completely relax.
Give yourself an hour of relaxation, rejuvenation and leave the guilt syndromes out of the … bathroom!
You deserve this!
